Help show kids in New York City that they are known and loved.
Bringing diverse books and culturally appropriate hair and skin care to children in hospitals, summer camps, shelters, and other communities in need.
Sometimes the best way to show up for a child is to show them you understand their unique needs.
While we can’t meet all the needs of New York City’s children, especially those living with medical concerns or systemic barriers, we can provide two types of support that can bring them joy in simple yet profound ways- culturally appropriate hair and skin care for ALL hair and skin types and books that reflect diverse stories in a variety of languages.
Our Projects
-
Curly Hair Product Collection
Since 2023, we have been collecting culturally appropriate hair and skin care products for children at Sister Pat’s Kids Camp, who are predominantly children of color. The camp serves children with cancers and blood disorders from NYC. This year we want to expand to other children, such as kids in hospitals, related charities for families of children impacted by serious illnesses, and shelters.
-
Diverse Book Collection
Inspired by our campers, this year we want to collect books for children aged 5 to 16 that feature diverse characters and storylines and are in languages like Spanish. We will collect books for Sister Pat’s, Columbia Presbyterian, and other groups.

Bone Marrow, Stem Cell, and Blood Drives
By working with organizations like NMDP and the Red Cross, we can show up for people living with cancers and blood disorders in a huge way- by potentially saving their lives through the donation of bone marrow or stem cells or even just a simple blood donation.
